Our Story

We Don’t Just Board Horses.
We Care for Them.

Cates Horse Boarding isn’t a commercial facility — it’s our family’s home in Garfield, Arkansas. We opened our gates to NWA horse owners who wanted something better: real land, a real family on-site, and genuine care for their horse every single day.

We know every boarded horse by name, by personality, by quirk. When something is off with your horse, we notice — because we live here, we walk these fields every single day, and we treat every horse in our care as if it were our own.

The People Behind It

You’re Not Hiring a Facility.
You’re Trusting a Family.

A horse owner trusting someone with their animal deserves to know exactly who is on the other side. Here’s who we are.

We started Cates Horse Boarding because NWA horse owners deserved a better option — real land, real family on-site, and genuine care for every horse. We had the land and the heart for it, so we opened our gates.. So we opened our farm.

Questions

Hay is provided — but if your horse has a specific hay preference or you prefer to supply your own, that is completely fine and we will work with you. Stall board includes daily stall cleaning and personalized feeding. Supplements and special feed can also be administered by arrangement.

We currently have 4 stalls available, along with pasture and paddock spots. Availability changes — the best way to check is to call or text us at (479) 903-4996. We’re always happy to give you an honest, up-to-date picture of what’s open.

Absolutely — we strongly encourage it. Come walk the property, see the setup, and find out if it feels like the right home for your horse. Most people feel much more comfortable after visiting. Just call or text (479) 903-4996 to set up a time.

For the safety of all horses on the property, we require a current negative Coggins test and up-to-date vaccinations. We also use a boarding agreement to make expectations clear from day one. We’re happy to walk you through onboarding when you reach out.

Our round pen is brand new and we have a professional trainer on-site. Training is separate from boarding fees and is available for horses that board here as well as outside horses. Reach out to ask about scheduling, availability, and what the trainer specializes in.

Absolutely. We welcome owners to visit regularly. We just ask that you let us know you’re coming, especially for early morning or evening visits, so we can make sure someone is around. Just text or call ahead — we’re easy to reach.

We will contact you the same day, every time, if anything unusual happens with your horse. We don’t wait, we don’t downplay, and we don’t make you wonder. You’re trusting us with something irreplaceable — and we take that seriously.
